December, 2011 - Looking Ahead . . . with Grateful Hearts!

As the year draws to a close, what a pleasure it is to reflect on the many gifts Africa Exchange has received over the past year and how those gifts have played a part in making a difference in the lives of so many of our friends in Kenya. Thank you, thank you for your generosity and faithfulness!

2012 promises to be a year of growth in the outreach of Africa Exchange:

  • Change for Children - On the horizon is the establishment of the 9th Integrated Child Development Center. As Kenya transitions to a new constitution, the old provincial structure is being replaced by a "county" structure. Our first 8 integrated child development centers were situated among the most neglected districts of Kenya's 9 provinces (with the exception of Nairobi). In researching where our 9th center will be situated, we are looking at Turkana and Samburu counties as possibilities. Both rank in the top 10 poorest counties in Kenya under the new structure.
  • Kutana – Four groups are on the calendar so far for 2012 including Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond (BTSR) Mission Immersion in May; Mercer on Mission in June; Passport Kenya in August and a combined church partner group sometime in the Fall. We are also seeking ways to expand "Kutana" through the offering of a summer/semester internship program for seminary/divinity school students.
  • Development Initiatives - Water purification, solar pumping, enhanced rainwater collection techniques, institutional kitchen gardens, bee keeping and arid land reclamation projects promise to keep us busy at partnership sites around the country.

In all this, we are grateful for your involvement and sacrifice. We would be alone without your help. May God add his blessings to you as you continue to bless others – Mungu Akuongeza!

Sam Harrell – Executive Director, Africa Exchange
